The experience
Head south of Cusco with your private guide to Tipón, an Inca park devoted to water whose canals and fountains still run, and Pikillacta, a walled citadel built by the pre-Inca Wari. Then step inside the church of Andahuaylillas, the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas,” and taste chuta bread fresh from a wood-fired oven in Oropesa.
Tip: book at least 24 hours in advance and plan this tour after your first day in Cusco.

No. You’ll need it for Tipón and Pikillacta. Bring cash in soles to buy it.
Because it is almost empty. Tipón, Pikillacta and Andahuaylillas get a fraction of the Sacred Valley crowds, so you walk them without queues. It is also the only route where you see Wari architecture, older than the Incas, at Pikillacta. It is a half day, so it fits the same day as an afternoon arrival or before a flight.
