Essentials at a glance
The experience
Start in Lima’s Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a local guide: Plaza San Martín, Jirón de la Unión, La Merced, the Plaza Mayor and the catacombs beneath the San Francisco Monastery. Then cross to Miraflores, stop for a coffee and a bite, and finish at Huaca Pucllana, an adobe pyramid raised more than 1,500 years ago.
Tip: pair it with our Magic Water Circuit tour in the evening.
Step by step
We collect you in Miraflores, San Isidro or Barranco and head for the Historic Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
White marble and a 1920s air: the Gran Hotel Bolívar, the twin buildings and the Teatro Colón around the statue of the liberator.
We walk what was once Lima’s most elegant street, where the city came to stroll and shop. Today it is pedestrian and still full of life.
One of the finest baroque façades in the center, carved in stone. If it is open to the public, we step inside.
The heart of the city since 1535: the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the City Hall around the same fountain.
We go down into the catacombs that served as a cemetery until the early 1800s, and see the library and the Sevillian-tiled cloisters.
Back in Miraflores we stop for a coffee with an empanada or something sweet, before heading into the huaca.
An adobe pyramid more than 1,500 years old in the middle of Miraflores. Its bricks stand on edge like books on a shelf — which is why it has survived so many earthquakes.
We drop you back at your hotel in Miraflores, San Isidro or Barranco.

About 6 hours. Pickup at 9:00 a.m., the historic centre with the catacombs under the San Francisco monastery, and back in Miraflores the Huaca Pucllana pyramid. Water and a snack along the way are included.
A pyramid of the Lima culture, raised around the year 400, in the middle of Miraflores and surrounded by apartment blocks today. It is built from millions of hand-made adobe bricks set on edge and spaced apart like books on a shelf: that shape let it absorb earthquakes that brought down far more recent buildings.
